We are the 99%

People across the nation are joining together to stand up for an economy and a country that works for all of us- not just the top 1% or the big banks and corporations. 

Who are the 99% ?  We are the 99%!   The 99% are working families across the country and we are the majority.  If we are the majority, why do the top 1% of Americans own nearly 50% of the wealth in this country?  And why is their share growing?

3 years ago, Wall St. crashed the economy and today 25 million people are still out of work.  Yet, banks and corporations are making record profits and not paying their fair share of taxes.  In fact, some don't pay any taxes at all AND get rebates!

We're standing up to say- ENOUGH IS ENOUGH.  This economy isn't working for us.  The American Dream is disappearing and we have to do something about it!

Join us next week in a series of actions to demand a fair economy that works for you & your family!

• Wednesday, November 16 @ 6 p.m.:  Phone bank with Local 1000 members.  We're calling members & asking them to join the movement & put a "We are the 99%" sign in their yard or car.- 6 p.m. Local 221 office (4004 Kearny Mesa Rd., 92111)
• Thursday, November 17:  DAY OF ACTION!!-  All Day:  Sticker Action at your worksite.  Wear your "99%" sticker and talk to your co-workers about why we're uniting for a strong economy.
  • 4:30 p.m.- BRIDGE ACTION- Join other community organizations for a bridge action to demand Congress invest in good jobs!  Clairemont Dr. bridge over the 5 Freeway (across from Mission Bay Visitor's Center)
  • 6 p.m.- Local 221 "We are the 99%" phone bank to members. Local 221 office (4004 Kearny Mesa Rd., 92111)
  • Also at 6 p.m., join the Member Political Organizing Committee during their meeting for a special presentation of "Who Broke the Economy" by President Eric Banks and stay to help phone bank!
• Saturday, November 19, @ 10 a.m.:  "We are the 99%" sign delivery.  Help us drop off the signs to our members.  AND, don't forget to put a sign in your yard, window, or car!
